Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the dates for the NOLA Pirate Gathering?
The NOLA Pirate Gathering 2025 will run from April 17th through April 20th
  • Where is the NOLA Pirate Gathering located?
The NOLA Pirate Gathering is located in New Orleans, Louisiana and all of the various events take place throughout multiple locations in the French Quarter of New Orleans. You can see our events page for time and locations of all scheduled events.
  • Can I bring/wear weapons?
Although local laws may allow for most weapons to be worn, many of the venues that we partner with for the event do not allow certain types of weapons and some allow none of any kind. The Creole Queen riverboat is a NO WEAPONS venue. For all else, the standing rule is no "real" weapons. Swords and bladed weapons must be foam, rubber, plastic or wood; flintlocks MUST NOT BE FUNCTIONAL! Non-firing replicas only! This is a hard/fast rule due to changes in policy for many of the bars and other venues within the quarter.
  • Do I have to dress up?
While garb is not required for any event except the Airship Pirate Ball, it is strongly encouraged. After all, part of the fun of being a pirate is looking the part! There are also many places in the Quarter and around the city to start your garb if you're new to pirating! Any of our local Crewe will be more than happy to help you get your 'fit sharp as a cutlass!
  • What type of weather can I expect?
While weather by its nature is unpredictable, South Louisiana is typically quite warm to downright HOT, (from 80 up to 100 degrees) so if your garb is on the heavier side, make sure you hydrate well!
  • Where is the best place to park?
While there is street and pay lot parking available, there is no guarantee of either, nor is there any surety of safety from break in. Our recommendation is to rideshare, pedicab, or walk if you're close enough from your lodgings. Besides, who wants to go on a drunken scavenger hunt for their own vehicle late at night?
  • What's the best transportation around the Quarter if I don't want to walk?
We highly recommend - Cajun Queen Tours, Rides & Limo - for transportation options. They are a reputable and reliable company with a variety of options from pedi-cabs all the way to limousines and excellent rates and availability. You can reach out to them directly at: (504) 912-2030 or find them online at www.cajunqueentours.com
  • Do I have to buy Pub Crawl tickets if I just want to hang out?
You are most welcome to tag along on all our adventures except for the Creole Queen and Airship Pirate Ball due to limited space/limited tickets. You are free to self-purchase any drinks you'd prefer and stroll along with us on the Pub Crawl route without having to buy a ticket for the crawl itself. In fact the more, the merrier! You only have to purchase Pub Crawl tickets if you plan on partaking of the included specialty drinks at each stop.
  • Can we wear weapons to the Airship Pirate Ball?
See the weapons policy information in the "General Info" section of this F.A.Q. Anyone banned from the venue due to a breach of the weapons policy for the venue will not receive a refund for their Airship Ball tickets.
  • Can we wear weapons on the Pub Crawl?
See the weapon's policy in the "General Info" section of this F.A.Q. Also keep in mind that there is limited space in each pub and there will be a quite large number of pirates. Large or oversized items may snag, catch, or hit those around you and we will be mingling with the general public, so be mindful. If you are asked to leave a venue due to a breach of the weapons policy, you will be barred from the remainder of the event and you will not be refunded for your pub crawl tickets.
  • Can we wear weapons on the Creole Queen?
Unfortunately that is a hard no. The boat does not allow weapons of ANY kind, fake or otherwise, on its premises. If you are asked to disembark for bringing weapons on board, there are no refunds for your ticket.
  • Is garb required for the Airship Pirate Ball?
Yes! The Airship Pirate Ball is the one event where garb is mandatory.
  • Are tickets required for the Airship Pirate Ball
Yes. Due to limited space and availability, only ticketholders will be granted access to the Airship Pirate Ball venue.
  • Can I purchase tickets for the Pub Crawl and/or Airship Pirate Ball day of?
Unfortunately, due to planning and portioning requirements, all tickets must be purchased in advance to ensure there is ample product and space available.
